Helpful Hints from your friends at the Helping Hand! Use these 5 tips to get on the fast track to a Healthier You! - Make water your friend- Water is the most important resource to the human body. Every bodily function is Dependant upon an adequate supply of water in your system. Everyone should strive to drink AT LEAST 1 Gallon of water a day, this is especially true for hard training athletes, who should strive for 1.5 to 2 Gallons of water a day!
- Your body grows OUTSIDE not INSIDE the Gym!- Working out with weights and cardiovascular exercise is important to improving strength, endurance and overall health, but they are only one part of the equation. Exercise breaks down the muscles, and they can only repair and grow back bigger, stronger, and faster if given adequate time to rest. That being said, know your limits and never over exceed your boundaries! This will vary from person to person, so knowing your limits is in you best interests!
- Keep a Journal!- Gains and progress may come slowly, but they come surely! Keeping a journal of every workout, including your number of sets, reps, and amount of time in the gym will help you keep track of every little baby step that you take!
- Use Food to Fuel your Workouts!- Working out is excruciating enough, don't make it more difficult by starving yourself! Make sure you are getting plenty of nutrients by eating a balanced diet containing lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats. - Make Veggies your Favorite Dessert! - The fiber found in vegetables such as broccoli, green peppers, and salad, provides critical nutrients that are vital in food digestion and other necessary bodily functions, so do not forget your leafy greens! Another helpful tip, because of the indigestible, fibrous, bulk contained in green vegetables, eat them as the last part of your meal for their natural cleansing properties.
